Another intense and wonderful year lies behind us. Once again, we had the pleasure of welcoming many great people on board, sharing special moments and continuing to develop Abuela step by step. Our goal remains unchanged: to offer you a relaxed, comfortable and carefree time on the water – so you can fully focus on the experience.
In 2025, we have once again made significant improvements. Here is an overview of the most important upgrades on board:
Drinking Water Without Compromise
One of this year’s highlights is the new reverse osmosis system. It ensures that we now have a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water on board at all times – directly from the tank. No more carrying and storing water bottles, no deposit confusion between Germany and the Netherlands, and no extensive provisioning, especially for larger groups. Combined with the new water carbonator, fresh still or sparkling water is available at any time. Together with the ability to draw and treat water directly from the lake, this is a true game changer for onboard water supply.
More Autonomy Thanks to Solar Power
With a photovoltaic system delivering a total of 760 watts peak, Abuela is significantly more independent at anchor during the summer. Especially on sunny days, solar power alone is sufficient to cover everyday onboard needs without shore power. In combination with our 840 Ah battery capacity, this is a major gain in freedom and tranquillity.
Even More Atmosphere on Board
This year, we have once again added subtle lighting accents throughout the boat. The aim was to make life on board even more cosy and pleasant – whether during dinner in the saloon, over a glass of wine, or while relaxing at the end of a cruise.
Cooking on a New Level
A Thermomix TM5 is now available on board. It allows for quick, easy and versatile meal preparation – from breakfast and soups to pasta or more elaborate dishes. For crews who enjoy cooking together on board, this is a wonderful addition.
Sound That’s Fun
As some charter guests brought their own “event-style” audio equipment this year and our previous HomePod setup proved somewhat fiddly, we decided to upgrade. A powerful Bluetooth speaker (Teufel MOTIV Home) now delivers rich sound on board. Thanks to its integrated battery, it can be used flexibly in the saloon, on the aft deck or on the foredeck. Whether relaxed background music or a small onboard party – it’s more than ready.
As always, we already have many ideas beyond 2025 to further improve Abuela. We are always grateful for your feedback and suggestions – feel free to reach out if something comes to mind.
